Care, Respect and a Commitment to High Standards

St George's CofE School aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.

Above all, our aim is to make St. George's School a happy place, where your child will want to be, where their personal strengths and weaknesses will be recognised and their work will be tailored to reflect their individual needs.

Church Links

The school has strong links with St George’s Church and the wider Christian community of Barrow.

Open the Book  - This group of enthusiastic Christians come to our school once a month to tell bible stories, sing songs and pray. The older children take part in these assemblies by dressing up and act out the story. Our younger children enjoy the action songs.

“I love the Open the Book because they do a play and tell us stories about Jesus.” – Courtney

Church leaders come to school once a week to lead our collective worship. They share stories and the Christian message with the children in fun and varied ways.

“I like it when Matt, Jo, Robin and Gary come in. They tell us stories and it is fun.” - Amber

Occasionally, we are lucky to welcome other visitors from the church community in Barrow and further afield who come to share their faith with the children. Recently, as part of the Believe in Barrow project, some Scandivian Christian Bikers came and shared their message through amazing feats of strength.

“The Vikings were amazing! I went to see them again in Barrow Park.” – Maddie

Our children often take park in activities run by, or in conjunction with churches, from all denominations in Barrow who work together to enrich the children’s knowledge and developing faith.
