We are a group of parents and teachers that plan, organise and run events within school such as coffee mornings, discos, school fairs and away days. Our main aim as a PTA is to secure and increase links between school and home.

Past Events
Some of our recent successes include our Macmillan Coffee Morning, in which we raised £650, with the help of teachers, parents and year 6 pupils, as part of their school project.
We have organised 4 school discos which were enjoyed by all and our next two are planned for just before the half term break. All children received a hot dog, drink and sweets as part of their ticket price.
The away days during the summer holidays were also a great success with visits to Furness Abbey, Biggar Bank, Barrow Park and Happy Mount Park in Morecambe. The last away day had a bus supplied by PTA funding which enabled more parents and children to attend.
We try our best annually to fit two fairs into the school year. Last year there was the Christmas Fair in which we had a visit from Father Christmas that most of the children visited and had their pictures taken with him. Amongst the goods sold were items crafted by all of the children throughout the school which was a big hit for the parents.
The PTA organised for the Year 6 leavers to have a t-shirt and photo as a momento of their time here at St Georges. They were all able to sign each others t-shirts as a reminder to them of their friends and teachers. The photos were taken by Lee Holmes (thank you Lee!) and the children picked their poses and friends to be in them. Hopefully this will continue well into the future.
PTA have helped to implement the introduction of Family Learning courses, which have included Literacy, Healthy Eating, Arts and Crafts, Triple P Parenting Course, First Aid for Parents and Numeracy which is currently running. Future courses include the Healthy Eating again, as it proved very popular, IT and hopefully another Arts and Crafts course which are open for all to attend.
